Critamo Cottage is a 300-year old Cretan house, located in the remote Gavalochori village of Agios Pavlos, near the historic town of Chania. Built at the beginning of the Ottoman conquest in 1724, Critamo Cottage (previously known as ‘Amvrosios House’) passed from father to son. Centuries of history have added to its distinct charm which has now been lovingly brought back through careful restoration. It is fully in keeping with the traditional village setting and its many features of local and historical interest.

Critamo Cottage is a family-friendly 120m2 cottage which can accommodate up to six people. The furnished, cosy courtyard is a sanctuary for the soul, where drinks and local delicacies can be enjoyed. The old barn and storage space, complete with Venetian arch and wooden ceiling features, has been converted to make a comfortable living and dining room with a rustic, relaxing interior, while still maintaining its traditional characteristics and authenticity. The area can also be converted to a guest bedroom if required. One double bed in the main bedroom in the attic and on the ground floor one bedroom with semi double bed and one single sofa-bed in the living room. Both bedrooms are equipped with strong wooden beds, handmade in Crete, and feature comfortable, modern mattresses that guarantee an authentic village life. The original clay wood-burning oven offsets this modern kitchen space which features a BBQ, electric oven and stove, refrigerator, coffee machine and dishwasher. The luxurious bathroom is equipped with all modern amenities, high-quality accessories and a state-of-the-art washing machine. The historic village features many shops, old Greek taverns and cafés and abounds in local culture with shops selling traditional pastries and handicrafts, numerous Greek Orthodox churches, and many architectural features of interest such as Venetian arches and wells, Roman tombs and an ancient olive oil press.
